Have fun - never been to Kyoto but wish I had.
Have had the $2000 shabu shabu dinner with Kobe beef for 8 people however in the 80’s. That was ok. (Before the recession/depression/economic doldrums of the 90’s and beyond.)

It was a time. For sure. Kobe Beef (look it up - beer fed, hand massaged cows) was about $60/lbs then. Whiskey and Karaoke were included. I won’t mention the night at a tempura bar. Good god - they changed the oil 3 times during the meal, customized each batter to the relative humidity of each thing to be coated and it was (obviously) fried foods without a single moment of tasting “fried foods.” Knarly good.
Needless to say, I never could have afforded that stuff myself unless I’d been on a team another company was trying to woo. Three cheers for “woo”.
